The Struggle of Freak the Mighty

We have learned that in stories the main character will usually experience a conflict. The conflict is the struggle the character has to solve.

In class we are reading Freak the Mighty. What is Maxwell's main conflict and how do you think it will be resolved? Respond to this question by clicking on the comment button.

  1. Maxwell's main conflict is trying to figure out if his dad killed his mom. I think it will be resolved by Maxwell asking his dad if he really did it.

  3. I think that the conflict was that Maxwell isn't that smart and he doesn't believe in himself. The solution is that Freak comes along and shows Maxwell how to live and be confident in himself.

  4. In the story Freak the Mighty, Maxwells main conflict is dealing with the death of freak and not having the smarts that Freak had. He can solve this problem by realizing that he doesnt need freak to be smart and that he is smart himself.

  6. I think Maxwell's main conflict is that everyone thinks he is intimidating and dangerous, because of his father. He solves this by hanging out with Freak and is getting nicer and giving a brighter impression.
